Our children are getting older now, they are both in their teens. Time goes by so fast....it seems like yesterday they were playing with Legos, cars, and dolls, and now they are dreaming of their futures and what God has in store for them. This past weekend my son told us he wanted an Easter egg hunt. Little did he know that we would actually follow through with his request. While dad was busy outside hiding the eggs, our son was trying to guess what was going on. When he found out we were have an Easter egg hunt, it was like the clocked turned back in time to when he was a little boy. He was so excited and happy that we had taken the time to do this for him. It was as if we had released his inner child and he was ready to go. When we said, "On your mark get set go," I saw the eyes ... read more

Six years later, I left with some wonderful memories and life long friends that will always be part of my life. Legacy Leaver Thursday Link Up and Being the Person God Created
This week we are in week 10, of our Power of a Praying Parent Series, "Being the Person God Created." "Not knowing who God made us to be, trying to be who we are not, or even just desiring to be someone else, can only lead to a life of misery, frustration, and unfulfillment." ~ Stormie Omartian Looking back 25 - 30 years ago, I can still remember what it was like to be a teenager. The pressure to fit it, measure up to, and be part of the popular kids was at the forefront of our minds. It was so easy to follow after the crowd, just for the sake of fitting in, and being liked. What about you, can you remember those days? The pressure is twice as hard for our children today. They have so many more obstacles and traps that Satan tries to ensnare them with, to prevent them from being the ... read more
Show Them Jesus
Please welcome our featured blogger for the month of September, Christina from To Show Them Jesus. You know you've had a bad day when your child prays that God would give you patience. Have you been there? My days are spent rushing from one thing to the next and trying to get my kids to keep up with me. I am irritable and short. I get frustrated by whatever slows me down. And as my son pointed out, I get impatient. My heart's passion is that my children would know and love Christ with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. I read to them from Scripture, explain the gospel, and help them learn about their maker.Yet far too often, my own behavior is a deterrent and distraction. St. Francis said "Preach the gospel at all times and if necessary use words." As a parent, if my ... read more
The Legacy of Discipline
God had been speaking to me lately about an area I need to work on , discipline. I need to make sure I live a life of intentional living, being disciplined to follow through on the tasks that He has laid before me. This involves seeking God in His word and through prayer, asking Him how He wants me to live my life. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Matthew 7:7It's about obeying what He tells me to do. It involves setting goals and plans to accomplish His will for my life. It's about, "sticking to it", whether I feel like it or not. Pushing aside selfish desires and thoughts, so that He might be glorified. In being disciplined to the things of God, so many things can get accompished. A very important one is being able to set ... read more

Which Path Will She Take?
It's the summer before her last year of high school and this Mama is a bit nervous. Can she really be this old? It's seems like yesterday she was wearing her mint green, polka dotted,Winnie the Pooh outfit and toddling between her Daddy and I taking her first steps. A few weeks ago she told me that she will be a senior soon. My sigh must have been loader than I thought because she soon replied, "Don't worry Mama, I'll always be your baby." Gulp.....hold back the tears. Where does the time go? You turn around and she is no longer playing with American Girl dolls, but rather applying for college scholarships and dreaming big dreams.Oh, to be young like her and be at the starting line, ready for anything. As the gun will soon fire with a deafening bang.......off she'll go. Off on her own ... read more
Words of Wisdom, Marriage and Motherhood~Part 1
Sometimes, I wish I could travel back to when my husband and I first started our journey. If this was possible, I would visit the young bride of 23, hand her a letter, and tell her to read it and keep it close to her heart. The letter would read like this...... Dear Sister in Christ, This letter contains words of wisdom that I wish I would have know 20 years ago about marriage and motherhood. What a wonderful journey you have ahead of you.........you are about to write the first pages of your legacy that you will leave for your friends and family. In this letter I want to offer you some foresight that will help make your journey a little easier.1. Put God first, in all that you do. Remember your wedding verse, Ecclesiastes 4:12 "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. ... read more
Give Them Wings to Fly
Each of us go through various stages in our lives. Whether we like it or not, there will always be a new adventure around the next bend. Our daughter will be facing a new beginning of her own, as she will be going off to college in a year. This is our first baby leaving the nest and a new experience for this mama. God continually places things on my heart concerning my children, one of which is being able to give them wings to fly. Being someone who likes to control a situation, I would love to control what the future brings, sadly I can not, none of us can. The Lord's word states that there is a time for everything in life. "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die,a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a ... read more
