**Congratulations Libby McCord!! You are the winner of The Pursuit of Motherhood giveaway, and email has been sent to you!**
The Pursuit of Motherhood is a new ebook that was recently released by a group of talented bloggers, who are also talented and wonderful mothers. The purpose of this book is to inspire you, cheer you on, and let you know that you’re not alone in the high calling of motherhood. When you have been blessed with children of your own, you will find many different scenarios crossing your path that relates to motherhood. This book delves into many of them, offering you hope and encouragement along the way.
The topics in the book range from being a praying mother, mothering through the younger years, being a working mom, the healthy mom, the weary mom, the modest mom, the homeschooling mom, raising real men, raising homemakers and so much more.
The fist thing that caught my eye, was from Jasmine Cucuta, about the importance of prayer…
“Mothers are to fulfill a calling, to exercise an influence over her children, to deliver them from the power of the world, and to bring them to God. Mothers must maintain an attitude of ceaseless prayer that guarantees them access to the Spirit and power from on high. ” (1 Thess. 5:17)
The most important thing we can do for our children is to pray for them. When we neglect prayer, we become lost on the road of motherhood.
This was followed by some very powerful words from Heather Knopp, about what happens when we first find out we are expeciting…
“From the moment you read the results of your first “Positive” pregnancy test, your life is forever changed. YOU are now a Mother! YOU have been chosen to carry out a great and notable assignment. Such responsibility should never be taken lightly or for granted. YOU have the power to help shape the next generation. YOU have the power to help change the world. “-Heather Knopp
Melanie Moore, spoke from her heart as she gave some very helpful tips about how to manage being a working mom. Tips like……
- Giving yourself grace.
- Setting aside time for self.
- Prioritize tasks that need to be done.
- Simplifying your life.
- Be there to encourage one another on this journey of motherhood.
My favorite quote from Melanie was that we need to “Enjoy each second with your baby; it goes so quickly.” And that is does, it seems like just yesterday my children were babies, now they are 18 and 15, almost ready to start lives of their own.
One of my favorite chapters in The Pursuit of Motherhood, was the last one titled, Leaving A Legacy. The desire to leave a legacy is something very close to my heart.
The author of this chapter, Jacqueline Fitzgerald states that , “A truly lasting legacy is something intangible that is instilled into others that can strengthen and embolden them for courageous living in light of eternity–something that they then can pass on to others even after you are long gone from this earth. What will remain of your faith, your character, and your personhood when this life is over?”
Jacqueline states that a legacy is more than just things we leave someone. It’s pieces of our heart that we leave with them. It’s our character, attitudes and relationship with Jesus that will get passed down from generation to generation to show others how to truly live a life of following Christ.
I highly recommend The Pursuit of Motherhood, it has 19 chapters that are jam packed with wisdom and knowledge to encourage you on your walk as a mother. There are also study questions at the end of each chapter that will help you delve further into each subject. To purchase this life changing ebook, for $7.99 please click here.
