I can just imagine the what it would have looked like.
A calm serene comes over the stable as Mary swaddles her new born child and gently sways this way and that, as the young babe drifts off to sleep in her arms. She is exhausted from labor yet her heart is filled with a peace and love that she has never felt before.
She wants to drink in the moment and hold it in her heart and never let it go. Her faithful Joseph is by her side and the animals are filled with content as they watch with wonder at what lay before them. The Lord God fulfilled His promise to her with the birth of the Christ child. She can hardly believe that He choose her for such a task, to be the mother of the Son of God, the Son that would one day save the world.
” So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” – Luke 2:4-14
Oh, to be like Mary!
To care about nothing other than being in the moment and celebrating the birth of the Savior of the World. It’s my goal this Christmas for that to be my focus. I want to gather by our beautifully lit tree with my husband and children, and talk about what the true meaning of Christmas is. I want to capture the look on each of their faces and hold it in my heart forever as we focus on our Lord and Savior.

I would use the money to buy clothes for my children. My husband was without a job for a few weeks and we moved to another state to help care for his parents. His new job is 1/3 what he was making before, and we were barely making it then.
