Congratulations Jenifer Metzger, you won the White Christmas giveaway!! photo credit I am so glad that you're joining us. Every Thursday at Shari A. Miller ~ Living to Leave a Legacy, we will be talking about ways to leave a legacy for your children and those around you. A legacy is so much more than a material possession that we leave with someone. For me, when I leave a legacy I want to leave a part of my heart. The part of my heart that combines my character, attitudes and the type of relationship I had with Jesus. I want to be faithful and worthy of this His calling, so that others might see who Jesus is by looking at the life I lived. As I sit here typing this the only thing that illuminates the room are the lights of the Christmas tree. As I ponder about this upcoming Christmas, ... read more

Christmas Blessing Giveaway 2013
I am so happy that Christmas time is here! I love decorating the house, listening to Christmas music and spending time with my family. Each Christmas throughout the years has been special, creating unique memories that always make me smile. On one Christmas I can remember firemen driving through our neighborhood, with their lights flashing and sirens blaring. Santa was being pulled behind the firetruck, on a trailer decorated with Christmas lights shining brightly. I was about 6 years old and I ran outside to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what I wanted for Christmas. When I came back inside my mother asked what I had asked Santa for, I told her, "a new watch to call my own." I was so happy when I woke up on Christmas morning and found my watch from Santa underneath the tree. I thought ... read more

31 Days to a Better Marriage
Years ago, my fairy tale came true, the day I walked down the aisle to the man of my dreams. When you are young and the newness of marriage still sparkles in all it's glory, many husbands and wives think that problems will never come their way. At least that's what I thought, "No not us," I scoffed, we will be the ones living in the quaint little house with the white picket fence, living the perfect life. Little did we know that the vows we spoke on September 26th, 1992, would be put to the test time and time again. Especially when the word, cancer, decided to take up residence and make it self at home inside the marriage we thought was unshakable. When I heard that awful word I knew I had a choice, I could either give up and wallow in self pity, or I could claim victory in Jesus ... read more

"He's in room 5," the attendant said. With lightning speed I made my way to room 5 and was by my husband's side. He was lying on a stretcher with a cervical collar on, and smiled as soon as I walked in the room. My Mess, God’s Message – Part 1
I want my mess, to be God's message. It's filled been a year with many trials, seemingly one after another, right along with many life lessons learned. It all began in February.... My spirit was shattered, like ice cycles falling from winter's grip. A friendship of thirty years disintegrated into the abyss. It had been a long time coming. Boastful, hurtful, words were spoken that cut to the core. Apologies that should have been spoken, fell silent, and what was, was no more. Photo Credit The closing of one chapter also brought about the closing of another, as we learned we would be moving. This move hit our finances hard and the impact of this move is still being felt months later. Boxes of memories remain packed in closets, due to my heart that is unwilling to open up and make ... read more
