Things That Have Made Me Happy This Week

These past few weeks have been a time of growth for me. Sometimes, as we all know growth is not that easy. As I was driving yesterday I was trying to focus on the positive instead of the negative and come up with a list of things that have made me happy this past week, and this is what I came up with.1. Coming home from work to see my family.2. Coming home from work to find out that my son has made a treasure hunt for me and at the end of it was a picture drawn by him stating how much he loves me and a patriotic necklace made for me by his precious hands.3. Watching a video with my husband.4. Praying5. Realizing that in God's eyes I am enough.6. Receiving a phone call from a dear friend that lives far away.7. Planning our much needed vacation.8. Hugs from my husband.9. Having fun with my ... read more

Yesterday we had a wonderful day at the park on Father's Day. We took time to see the sights and enjoy the sun. In one of the pictures you can see Daniel is happily feeding a family of ducks. The momma begs for more as her ducklings eagerly feast on the bread.Emily and Daniel also enjoyed taking the time to ride on the carousel. Today Daniel was checking his growth chart on the wall in hopes that he will grow taller so he can actually catch the gold ring and win a free ride on the carousel. The highlight of the afternoon was cooling of in the gigantic fountain that we have downtown. We hope you had a wonderful Father's Day Daddy and we want to thank you for how hard you work for us. We love and appreciate you! ... read more

Skeeter and Emily

Yesterday afternoon Emily and I went to our Horse Co-op. It was the first time that we had been back for many months.Emily had a wonderful time meeting Skeeter for the first time. Last year Emily was thrown from a horse and had to take a trip to the hospital in the ambulance. Once she got to the hospital and had the full spectrum of tests ran they found out she was fine. It was only her Mother who almost had the heart attack. Smile. The night before this happened, both Emily and I had a dream about something happening to her. I dreamed that she got hurt and had to be taken to he hospital in an ambulance and she had a dream that she got thrown from a horse. Strange.... Needless to say Emily has only been on a horse once since then and the more she has thought about it she has been a little ... read more

We feel that it is very important for our kids to learn how to work around the house, both inside and out. On Monday night Daddy and Daniel were hard at work cutting down a dead lilac bush. Daniel always enjoys helping his Dad. In the picture below you can see Daniel amongst the leaves as he is trimming off the overgrowth from one of our flowering trees. ... read more

Walking Back in Time

Today we had a homeschooling family day as we walked back in time and spent the day at a Civil War re-enactment. All of our family, including Momma, my brother Gary and my great-nephew Aaron were able to go. The re-enactment included being able to look at Union and Confederate camp grounds followed by a re-enactment of the first battle of Bull Run. The participants were very friendly at each stop we went, as they gave information about what it was like to live back then. There was even a narrator before the battle began that explained what was going on. One of my husbands favorite things to read about and collect are things of the Civil War. Much to his surprise I told him that one year I would like to be part of the re-enactment. Now there are two things left of our educational ... read more

Today my son Daniel turns 10 years old. It's hard to believe that I don't have babies anymore and that they are growing up. (I still call them my babies even though they just sigh and smile at their mother.)It seems like yesterday that Bill was driving me to the hospital as Daniel decided he wanted to join the rest of his family 3 1/2 weeks early. I always tell him the story of when he was born how he cried so hard and the only time he was quite is when they put him in my arms and I told him everything was going to be alright. He looked at me with one eye open and one eye shut and calmed down as I tried to offer him comforting words. Then they quickly rushed him away to spend the next 2 days in the NICU. I was one sad Momma as I saw him laying there underneath his oxygen tent, screaming ... read more

I want to be remembered as a mother~Who put God first an foremost in her life~Who taught her children to love God and put him first and foremost in their lives~Who loved and respected their father~Who loved her children with all the love she could possibly give~Who realized the home is the most important place a mother can be, because it is there where she can nourish her children and help them to grow and flourish~Who told her children they could be anything they wanted to be~Who made sure her home was filled with love and laughter~Who taught her children the importance of being diligent in what they do~Who taught her children it is ok to make mistakes because that's how they can learn~That taught her children it is never ok to be prejudice or discriminate against others due to their race ... read more
