Today we had a homeschooling family day as we walked back in time and spent the day at a Civil War re-enactment. All of our family, including Momma, my brother Gary and my great-nephew Aaron were able to go. The re-enactment included being able to look at Union and Confederate camp grounds followed by a re-enactment of the first battle of Bull Run. The participants were very friendly at each stop we went, as they gave information about what it was like to live back then. There was even a narrator before the battle began that explained what was going on.
One of my husbands favorite things to read about and collect are things of the Civil War. Much to his surprise I told him that one year I would like to be part of the re-enactment. Now there are two things left of our educational experience, first to see what wonders from the day that Emily and Daniel choose to write on for a report for school. Secondly, we are also left pondering the question will you see my husband in a navy blue Union uniform caring his musket and most importantly…will we see me in an old fashioned dress and hoop skirt cooking over a camp fire or not? Stay tuned for the answer around the same time next year.
