Today my son Daniel turns 10 years old. It’s hard to believe that I don’t have babies anymore and that they are growing up. (I still call them my babies even though they just sigh and smile at their mother.)
It seems like yesterday that Bill was driving me to the hospital as Daniel decided he wanted to join the rest of his family 3 1/2 weeks early. I always tell him the story of when he was born how he cried so hard and the only time he was quite is when they put him in my arms and I told him everything was going to be alright. He looked at me with one eye open and one eye shut and calmed down as I tried to offer him comforting words. Then they quickly rushed him away to spend the next 2 days in the NICU. I was one sad Momma as I saw him laying there underneath his oxygen tent, screaming and wailing as they were trying to put IV’s into his tiny little arms. Once they had him settled, quite and wrapped up like a little burrito the nurses would tell me that he’s either really calm or very, very loud as he let’s you know he needs something and he needs it now.
Well, 10 years later as I look into my blond haired, blue eyed, freckle faced boy, I am so very thankful. He has a very sweet disposition, kind, loving, caring and always willing to offer words of love. (Except for the occasional moments that he finds great pleasure in tormenting his sister. Smile) He is always ready to help around the house and do things without being asked. I just melt as my little buddy says the sweetest things to his Momma such as, “You know Momma you are my hero, because without people like you, the people you help may not have homes to live in” or, “Momma I love you! You are the prettiest Momma in the world.”
Daniel, I want you to know that your whole family loves you so much! On this day ten years ago the Lord granted us with one of his greatest gifts, the gift of you. Have a happy birthday little buddy! Your Momma loves you….to the moon and back!

Happy Birthday Daniel!! Here’s to a year full of bugs, frogs, bunnies, artwork, baseball games, quiz meet trophies, and who knows what else?!!
We love you!!
Love, your godmamma
