Happy Birthday Daniel!

Today my son Daniel turns 10 years old. It's hard to believe that I don't have babies anymore and that they are growing up. (I still call them my babies even though they just sigh and smile at their mother.)It seems like yesterday that Bill was driving me to the hospital as Daniel decided he wanted to join the rest of his family 3 1/2 weeks early. I always tell him the story of when he was born how he cried so hard and the only time he was quite is when they put him in my arms and I told him everything was going to be alright. He looked at me with one eye open and one eye shut and calmed down as I tried to offer him comforting words. Then they quickly rushed him away to spend the next 2 days in the NICU. I was one sad Momma as I saw him laying there underneath his oxygen tent, screaming ... read more

I want to be remembered as a mother~Who put God first an foremost in her life~Who taught her children to love God and put him first and foremost in their lives~Who loved and respected their father~Who loved her children with all the love she could possibly give~Who realized the home is the most important place a mother can be, because it is there where she can nourish her children and help them to grow and flourish~Who told her children they could be anything they wanted to be~Who made sure her home was filled with love and laughter~Who taught her children the importance of being diligent in what they do~Who taught her children it is ok to make mistakes because that's how they can learn~That taught her children it is never ok to be prejudice or discriminate against others due to their race ... read more

This past week has been extremely busy as we have been preparing for a ladies tea and fashion show that was held at our church. The proceeds for the tea went to the children's quizzing department to help them go to the world quiz next year in Orlando, Florida. The tea was held on Saturday. The afternoon hours were filled with delicious tea, wonderful treats, fellowship and fun as the ladies got together for a time of elegance. The quizzers where responsible for helping at the tea and escorting the ladies to their chairs when they arrived. In the picture above you can see Daniel practicing as he escorts his friend and fellow quizzer to her chair. The fashion show was also a fun part of the event as Emily can be seen modeling the outfit she wore for the show. ... read more

Moments ago I finished praying with my now teenage daughter as she embarks on a new journey this weekend. As of 12:00 o'clock today until 6:00 pm tomorrow she will be participating in a 30 hour famine with her youth group to help raising money for starving children. This is a fund raising activity that is sponsored through World Vision. As of today Emily has raised $142 dollars to help support this cause. Please remember to keep her in your prayers as she learns to draw closer to the Lord this weekend. If you go to the World Vision website it discusses in detail what the 30 hour famine is about and how the funds will support those in need. ... read more

#37

Well some people may think I am going to be taking things to the extreme, but it's a sad day for this homeschooling momma. My favortie football player, Shaun Alexander, of the Seattle Seahawks was released today. He was the NFL MVP in 2005, and then had some stuggles the last two years. I think there were some Seahawks fans that were hoping he would get one more chance, another year, but it was not meant to be. The thing that impresses me most about Shaun is his walk with the Lord and the legacy he is leaving to those around him, which you can read about in his book, "Touchdown Alexander". Good luck #37, you'll be missed! ... read more

This weekend was a special weekend for our family because our baby girl turned 13 on Friday. We celebrated on Friday with a birthday party and slumber party. Saturday was a memory making day as we had a mom and daughter day, having tea and talking about things she will be facing in the future. Today we went to a very elegant brunch as a family where Daddy presented her with a purity ring.Where does the time go. It seems like yesterday Daddy would wrap her up all warm and snug like a little burrito and place her in my arms. Then came my beautiful little girl toddling behind me with her soft pink baby doll in tow. Then came her love for books, American Girl dolls, ballet and ice skating. Now, if you walked into her room you would see it covered in Seattle Mariners pictures and horse posters. ... read more

Simple and Yet Profound

I am in the middle of reading a wonderful book by Sally Clarkson titled, "The Mom Walk", in it was a well written passage that I wanted to share with you. It is something simple and yet profound. Something that we know to be true and yet at times easy to forget."I have come to believe that the success or failure of every woman who hopes to build her children into a godly legacy depends to a great degree on whether or not she is spending time in the presence of the Lord and filling her mind with His word. In this fallen world of Satan's dominion, where we are constantly bombarded with worldly ideals and cultural ideas, we cannot hope to be guided into all truth unless we are daily instructed by the Giver of truth. To my mind, it is pretty certain that whether or not a woman invests time ... read more
