Sometimes, I wish I could travel back to when my husband and I first started our journey. If this was possible, I would visit the young bride of 23, hand her a letter, and tell her to read it and keep it close to her heart. The letter would read like this...... Dear Sister in Christ, This letter contains words of wisdom that I wish I would have know 20 years ago about marriage and motherhood. What a wonderful journey you have ahead of you.........you are about to write the first pages of your legacy that you will leave for your friends and family. In this letter I want to offer you some foresight that will help make your journey a little easier.1. Put God first, in all that you do. Remember your wedding verse, Ecclesiastes 4:12 "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. ... read more
Treasure Hunters
Are you a treasure hunter? When you were a child did you ever dream of finding a buried treasure? If we adjust our vision we can see treasures all around us. From the smell of flowers, to laughter, to the sunshine out our windows, to cleaning a house and the feeling of accomplishment afterwards. We can find a treasure in all things if we look hard enough. It may not be the equivalent of gold, or jewels that we hear about in story books, but in reality it can be so much more. We can even find treasures amidst the hard. Just like the oyster suffers discomfort when sand forms into a precious pearl, our lives go through the same process. The hard in our lives transforms us into the person God wants us to be, one grain at a time. Are you suffering any type of hard situation in your life ... read more

Opportunities
God gives us opportunities to choose what directions our lives will take. It's because God loves us so much that He allows us to have the freedom to go right or left, this way or that. Our lives are full of snapshots of opportunities.... We have the opportunity to choose to look at the weeds growing in the front yardorthe handful of flowers that our precious babies picked to make mama smile. We have the opportunity choose to look at the piles of laundry scattered on our children's floor or be thankful for the fact that our babies have clothes to wear. We have the opportunity to choose to look at the poor and destitute standing on the street corners and wonder and judge about their situation, or we can pray for them and find ways to volunteer in the community. Wonderful ... read more
Give Them Wings to Fly
Each of us go through various stages in our lives. Whether we like it or not, there will always be a new adventure around the next bend. Our daughter will be facing a new beginning of her own, as she will be going off to college in a year. This is our first baby leaving the nest and a new experience for this mama. God continually places things on my heart concerning my children, one of which is being able to give them wings to fly. Being someone who likes to control a situation, I would love to control what the future brings, sadly I can not, none of us can. The Lord's word states that there is a time for everything in life. "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die,a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a ... read more
God’s View
We all look at things differently. Our legacies, everyday life stories, and beliefs about the world cause us to look at things from different perspectives. The problem with perspectives is sometimes they can be skewed. We can get a distorted vision of what's in front of us when the fog of who we are, and what we have been through gets in the way. This is an area that God, and my husband have been working with me on. God has been revealing to me that the way I see things and believe in things, is not the only correct perspective of a situation. I'm constantly being reminded to put on the glasses that God has provided for me so that things can be revealed in a new light. When I do this I am reminded that there are two sides to every story. This view, God's view, a view that's made possible ... read more
The Joy of the Lord is My Strength
Whatever your facing, let go of your worries and sorrows, and cast your cares at His feet. Take a moment to look at the canvas of His creation and find peace in the beauty of His masterpiece. In Christ Alone
~Please take a moment to click on this link and enter~ Leaving A Legacy's Mother's Day Giveaway! On a Spring day when the sky is bright blue and the clouds sprinkle the heavens, I love to turn my gaze upward. The clouds seem so peaceful as they float from one place to the next. That's the way it is with our identities. When we find our identity in the only thing that matters there is unmeasurable peace. The identity that I am talking about rests in Christ alone. If I falter and seek my identity in things of the world, the clouds are no longer serene. They turn from pure white, to a gray, tumultuous storm. Choosing to keep my identify in Christ keeps me calm. It gives my life purpose. It creates harmony instead of chaos. My identity in the Savior can be described in many ... read more
Teaching Our Children About Suffering
~Please take a moment to click on this link and enter~ Leaving A Legacy's Mother's Day Giveaway! Sometimes suffering causes scars. Scars that are visible to the human eye and that can be traced with the fingers of our hands as we remember exactly when they were formed. Some scars are only stored within the recesses of our heart fading with time, or with the healing touch of the Master's hand. At some point in our lives we have all gone through forms of suffering which causes these permanent reminders. Chances are we will probably go through more. What makes the difference is how we deal with them. While in the midst of suffering we can sit and complain and feel sorry for ourselves, or we can turn away from self, away from the hurt, and fix our eyes on God. I choose the last one.Which one ... read more
