My husband and I had the privilege of celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary this weekend on the same day that the movie Fireproof came out. One of the things we did to celebrate was go and see this well done movie that can change marriages and lives. You will need to pause the music at the side in order to watch and listen to the movie trailer. It is now at the top of my favorite movie list. I encourage you to go and see it and tell your friends about it also. ... read more
Seahawks Game
Our computer is off life support and back and running! Praise God! When you homeschool, it is no fun to be without one. My brother and I had an exciting weekend as we were able to go to a Seattle Seahawks game. They played a great game beating the Rams 37-13. The best play of the game and maybe even of the year is when #8 quarterback Matt Hasselbeck took out two defensive backs. This is not something you would normally want to see happen for fear of your quarterback getting hurt, but it paved the way for running back Julias Jones to get a touchdown for the Seahawks and got everyone excited in return. ... read more
Do You Ever Wish God Could Send You a Telegram?
I came upon a wonderful verse yesterday that really made me stop and think. It is found in Psalm 50:15, "I want you to trust me in your times of trouble, so I can rescue you, and you can give me glory." I sometimes find that the opposite of this is true for me. Oh, how easy it is to get bogged down with life's problems and not stop and remember that God is indeed there. It has been 5 years since I was first diagnosed with cancer. At the end of the month I will have another check up to see if I am indeed cancer free. All through this time I felt I went through this for a reason and that it had a purpose behind it. Through all the tears, financial difficulties, physical and emotional scars, I felt as if God was saying something more to me. As it states in the above verse that through our ... read more
First Day of School
Today was our first day of school. I have spent many hours these past couple of months looking into different curriculums and asking many questions to my very patient friends. Within the past few weeks I have had many people question me on homeschooling. They have wondered exactly how it's done and how long I will continue to homeschool. Some have said oh, "You have to put them into school in high school, they will miss out on all the fun things like daces and stuff." I just replied back with, "We'll take it year by year and see how it goes." I couldn't help but think whose to say they want to go to dances, and whose to say that's what we we want for them.Homeschooling is a whole new world for some people. For some they may offer a pat on the back and say "Oh that's great your doing that, ... read more
A Day at the Fair
This year Emily and Daniel had a good time entering many things into the fair. They have entered things into the fair for about the past 5 years. This year Emily entered a diorama of an old fashioned school house and a pastel drawing of her and a horse. Daniel entered a drawing of a carton penguin, m&m sugar cookies, a paper mache pig, and a creature feature penguin made out of vegetables. When we got to the fair yesterday we found out that Daniel got all blues and Emily got one blue and one red! Way to go! Mom is very proud of you! Mom entered in her chocolate chip cookies and her blond brownies and got two blues herself. Smile. ... read more
Choices
I have been thinking lately about how important the choices we make in life are. All throughout life the choices we make are vital. As a teenager I know I thought life was so care free and I didn't have a concern in the world. But, the choices made during this time of life affected who I am today. Which friends to choose, which college to choose, which person to date. We may not realize it, but they all change the outcome and direction of our destinies. In our adult lives we are faced with choices that daily affect everyone around us, especially our children. I often wonder how things would be better or worse if I would have made different choices. I feel that one of the most important choices we make on a regular basis is in the area of speech. The words that we choose to speak to others ... read more
