Legacy Leaver Thursday Link Up and Being the Person God Created
This week we are in week 10, of our Power of a Praying Parent Series, "Being the Person God Created." "Not knowing who God made us to be, trying to be who we are not, or even just desiring to be someone else, can only lead to a life of misery, frustration, and unfulfillment." ~ Stormie Omartian Looking back 25 - 30 years ago, I can still remember what it was like to be a teenager. The pressure to fit it, measure up to, and be part of the popular kids was at the forefront of our minds. It was so easy to follow after the crowd, just for the sake of fitting in, and being liked. What about you, can you remember those days? The pressure is twice as hard for our children today. They have so many more obstacles and traps that Satan tries to ensnare them with, to prevent them from being the ... read more

I hope you'll join me on this journey.....I'm going to be very transparent and very real, as I share with you what the Lord has placed on my heart, one step at a time. Photo Credit As the days before my surgery inched closer, the fear in my heart grew. “What kind of woman would I be for my husband?” The voices of the enemy kept telling me, "I would never be the same again." The words, “I’m so sorry” was the phrase that always crossed my lips anytime I saw my husband. He of course kept telling me, “Stop it! The only thing that mattered was me being there for him and the kids.” The day before my surgery we were in the examination room at the plastic surgeon's office. We were ... read more

Developing a Hunger for the Things of God and a Legacy Leaver Thursdays Link Up
Today is week 9 in our Power of a Praying Parent Series. Today's chapter talks about developing a hunger for the things of God. I fully believe that being a parent is one of the hardest jobs there is. Can I get an amen? Just think about it....we have been entrusted with raising a human being. Someone that can shape the outcome of history. Someone that can make the choice to go the ways of the world or who can make the choice to follow Jesus. We as parents need to be on guard day and night praying for our children that they would have a heart for Jesus. In all that we say and do, we need to be directing them back towards they Lord. We need to be consistent in our discipline and training, making sure that leading our children to Christ is always top priority. We need to teach our ... read more

Every Wednesday at Leaving A Legacy, I'm going to be sharing with you my journey as a breast cancer fighter. I hope you'll join me on this journey.....I'm going to be very transparent and very real, as I share with you what the Lord has placed on my heart, one step at a time. Photo Credit My husband and I went to see my surgeon with fear and dread settling in the pits of our stomachs. As we pulled into the parking lot, I thought of a million other places I would rather be, anywhere but here I thought....... anywhere on earth. Once we reached his office and all the pleasantries had been made, we got down to business. He explained what type of cancer I had, the only parts I can remember him saying were, it was estrogen positive, and HER2-. Many cancer survivors can tell you down to the ... read more
The Power of a Praying Parent Series {Week 8} and a Legacy Leaver Thursdays Link Up
This week at Leaving a Legacy we will be discussing chapter 8, "Attracting Godly Friends and Role Models," in "The Power of a Praying Parent" book by Stormie Omartian. I don't know about you, but I'm a mama who likes to control things. Up until my children reached high school age, I homeschool my children, and did everything in my power to control who would influence them. I joined homeschool co-ops, went to Friday school, set up play dates, planned parties, and participated in many church activities so my children could be around godly people, and in a godly environments. "The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray." Proverbs 12:26 It is so important who are children are friends with. We need to watchful and in prayer at all times ... read more
One Step at a Time
Every Wednesday at Leaving A Legacy, I'm going to be sharing with you my journey as a breast cancer fighter. I hope you'll join me on this journey.....I'm going to be very transparent and very real, as I share with you what the Lord has placed on my heart, one step at a time. Photo Credit A scream tore through the ordinary day, of my ordinary life. It was a scream that started the nightmare. It was a scream that made me grow up. It shook me to my very core. We had just gotten home from a family errand, my husband had left for work, and there on the answering machine was the message I dreaded most. Nervously, I hit play, and my doctor’s voice played loud and clear, “Shari, you need to call my office as soon as possible." I quickly called my doctor to confirm the news; it was the dreaded C ... read more
Grace for Burnt Soup
Today Kristen from Five in Tow, is sharing from her heart about God's grace and love towards mothers. Please join us and then take a moment to visit her and read more about her life's journey. Dinner was a disaster. Somehow, I had lost track of the time again. By the time the children started to complain about being hungry, the clock read 7 pm. 7 pm? Where had the day gone? I scavenged through the fridge for the vat of leftover bean soup I had made the day before. It was cold and thick and I knew I should heat it slowly or it would scald, but I took a chance and set the burner to medium-high because the sun was setting and the natives were hungry. A few minutes later, the soup was bubbling, but charred chunks of blackness rose to the top of the pot with each pass of my ladle. ... read more
