Today is week 9 in our Power of a Praying Parent Series. Today’s chapter talks about developing a hunger for the things of God.
I fully believe that being a parent is one of the hardest jobs there is. Can I get an amen?
Just think about it….we have been entrusted with raising a human being.
Someone that can shape the outcome of history. Someone that can make the choice to go the ways of the world or who can make the choice to follow Jesus.
We as parents need to be on guard day and night praying for our children that they would have a heart for Jesus. In all that we say and do, we need to be directing them back towards they Lord. We need to be consistent in our discipline and training, making sure that leading our children to Christ is always top priority.
We need to teach our children to fear God. Stormie Omartian describes it as, “Fearing God means having a deeply committed respect, love, and reverence for God’s authority and power. It means being deeply afraid of what life would be like without Him and being grateful that because of His love we’ll never have to experience such despair. It means hungering for all that God is and all that He has for us.”
Friends join me today in being an intentional parent. Join me in making a difference for future generations. To much is at stake to not be on our knees praying that our children would have a heart that seeks after God alone.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6
I’m so happy you’ve joined us for Legacy Leaver Thursdays please join us by linking up your posts!
- To link up go to the sidebar and get the code for the Legacy Leaver Thursdays button, right click and “save as” on the code and then upload it into your post. Or you can provide a direct link somewhere in your post linking back here. That way other bloggers can join in too.
- Then copy and paste the direct link from your post, (not your blog url), into the linky tool below.
- This link up will be happening every Thursday at Leaving a Legacy. You can link up your posts that deal with leaving a legacy to your children and other loved ones. These posts can vary from spiritual lessons, to homeschooling tips, to recipes and homemaking skills that you want to pass down. You can also link up posts that offer encouragement to the community. I will do the best I can to read as many posts as possible throughout the week. However, if there are times that I miss you, know that I’m so grateful that you linked up and was so blessed to have you here!
- In order to create an encouraging community here, please take a moment to visit the person in front of you. Thank you!
For those of you that link up throughout the month, I will be choosing a “featured blogger”, for the following month. The featured blogger will be someone who actively participates in the link up, and who’s posts have really touched the community. They will receive free advertising for their blog on my sidebar for that month, and also be allowed to submit one approved guest post during that month.
This month’s featured blogger is a dear high school friend, Alyssa Santos. Alyssa has a unique writing style that I love. She’ll make you think, challenge you to grow and draw you closer to the Lord in her writings. Please take a moment to visit her.

Thank you for hosting. I have posted Just a Dumb Housewife — this is the attitude that people of my generation (I’m 50) coped with when we decided to stay home and raise our kids. It’s good to see a new generation rising up with a desire to do the same, and a strong sense of self-confidence that what they have decided to do is good indeed.

Linking up for the first time here … I came by your blog recently, through a link from another blog. Thanks for sharing the story of your breast cancer – it is always so encouraging to hear of God’s Presence and Love through the very hard times of life. I can relate, as one of our daughters went through leukemia, and one of our granddaughters was just diagnosed with a rare genetic kidney disease last month. The post I linked up refers to this new trial. Thanks for sharing your heart here …
