#37

Well some people may think I am going to be taking things to the extreme, but it's a sad day for this homeschooling momma. My favortie football player, Shaun Alexander, of the Seattle Seahawks was released today. He was the NFL MVP in 2005, and then had some stuggles the last two years. I think there were some Seahawks fans that were hoping he would get one more chance, another year, but it was not meant to be. The thing that impresses me most about Shaun is his walk with the Lord and the legacy he is leaving to those around him, which you can read about in his book, "Touchdown Alexander". Good luck #37, you'll be missed! ... read more

Simple and Yet Profound

I am in the middle of reading a wonderful book by Sally Clarkson titled, "The Mom Walk", in it was a well written passage that I wanted to share with you. It is something simple and yet profound. Something that we know to be true and yet at times easy to forget."I have come to believe that the success or failure of every woman who hopes to build her children into a godly legacy depends to a great degree on whether or not she is spending time in the presence of the Lord and filling her mind with His word. In this fallen world of Satan's dominion, where we are constantly bombarded with worldly ideals and cultural ideas, we cannot hope to be guided into all truth unless we are daily instructed by the Giver of truth. To my mind, it is pretty certain that whether or not a woman invests time ... read more

God is working with me to keep my focus on the positive things in life. Last night as I was laying down to sleep he reminded me of the things he has blessed me with that I am thankful for. All of these items no matter how large or small have made it to my list because of the happiness and joy they bring to my life.1. Jesus dying on the cross for our sins and my ability to have a personal relationship with him.2. Praying and reading my bible.3. My wonderful family4. My best friend, my husband5. My son's sense of humor6. My daughter's enthusiasm over the Seattle Mariner's. Smile.7. A home, that God provided for us8. Being able to wake up every morning9. Being able to spend all day with my children10. The ability to love and be loved11. Spring (Once it finally decides to stay. Smile.)12. ... read more

A Dear Friend

Today we were very blessed to have a dear friend from work come and have lunch with us. I have known Tiffany for two years and I can honestly say that she is the happiest person that I have ever met. Every time I see her she always wears a smile on her face, rarely complains about anything except the copy machine (smile) and is ready and willing to do whatever is asked of her. To prove my point she had actually had people at work nickname her smilz. She also had one individual interview her and ask her what her secret to being happy all the time was. She is truly setting a Christ like example wherever she goes.In a few months time Tiffany will be graduating from nursing school and embarking on a new chapter in her life. In July my family and I will have the privelage of attending her ... read more

Easter Blessings

Yesterday we were able to go to church and hear a wonderful sermon and the sounds of Easter music. Afterwards my mom, brother and sister-in-law, nephew and great nephew all came to our house for a family dinner. Once the meal was over the kids had a good time hunting for Easter eggs. (I wish I wasn't to old to hunt for eggs. Smile.) When my family left I was delighted to receive a phone call from a dear friend of 25 years , who is like family to me. Easter was a day full of many blessings for our family, but the most important blessing of all was being reminded of Jesus dieing on the cross for our sins and the gift of eternal life through our Lord, which is the true meaning of Easter. ... read more

What do you believe?

I was saved when I was a teenager, grew up in a christian home, went to church, went to a christian high school, then on to a christian college, got married and now in the present day I try to walk with the Lord and lead by example for my children. Until recently I have never had anyone within the circle of individuals that I knew question my beliefs. This changed a few months ago when two of my friends told me how they believed. One denied the existence of God, and the other denied the existence of hell. In a book I have been reading titled "And the Angles were Silent," a statement was made that helps me better articulate the thoughts I have about one of my friends statements. "We are free either to love God or not. He invites us to love him. He urges us to love him. He came that we might ... read more

Alex

One of the blessings of Friday school is that the parents are allotted certain times during the day when they can go into what is call the hospitality room, to take a break and visit with other homeschooling parents. During my break last Friday I heard a story that one mother told, which brought me to tears, which I will share you. This mother's son was named Alex. Alex found out at a very young age that he had cancer. When the doctors realized that there was nothing more that they could do for Alex, his parents sat him down and said that it was time to pray and wait on the Lord. To which Alex replied, "That's OK, either the Lord will heal me here on earth or in heaven." That's when his Mother said that she finally got it, that we were not meant for time here on earth but rather for ... read more
