"14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe." Phillipians 2:14-15 In the Bible, God calls us to do all all things without complaining or disputing. Have you ever noticed that when you go against God's word, and start to get upset and complain about the situation around you, a domino effect is created. One by one, down go the dominoes with each spoken word of protest, criticism or grumbling. The negative words you speak not only start a downward spiral in your life, but also in the lives of family and friends around you. With every, "I can't, I don't want to, This is awful", your are making your situation worse and ... read more
Keep Your Eyes on God
As I was reading my Bible yesterday, the Lord spoke to me about where my focus should be. In Matthew 14:29-31 it states, 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” God said to me, "Why aren't you focusing on me? "What are you teaching your children?"This is something I have to work at daily, putting my focus in the right place. When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and onto his fears, he started to sink. It's so easy for us to do the same thing. When the every day winds of life smack us hard in the face, we often get off ... read more
An Empty Shell
Empty it sits. A shell of what it was.As I open the door, I'm taken back in time. I walk through the crowded hallway, merging this way and that, past students that are full of life and energy. Up and to my right I glance and see the pictures of graduates, lining the halls. How I long to have my picture on that wall one day soon. I hurriedly run to the end of the hall and reach into my yellow painted locker, grab my books and slam the metal door with it 's sound reverberating behind me.I look towards my left and see Coach Stinson working away in his office preparing for the big game later that evening. Around the corner I turn, almost running into Mr. Welham, dressed in his finest, wearing his tan corduroy blazer with a huge grin across his face. He whistles his happy tune and walks down ... read more
Turning Their Backs On God
Sometimes I wonder when it happened...when exactly did most of the nation decide to turn their backs on God and walk away? As I look back on each decade, I see the signs slowly coming, little by little. In attitudes...in dress...in speech... in actions.... our nation has gone from a Christ centered society to a me centered society. As I was walking through a store the other day, I was looking at the music trying to find where the christian section was....low and behold it was gone. As I was looking at a book store at the mall I was searching for books about Lent and Easter, yet again there were none to be found. It made me stop and wonder where has Christ gone? Why has society pushed Him away? I can remember at a very young age all of the stores in our city were closed on Sundays to pay ... read more

Crying Out to Jesus
"I cry out to the Lord; I plead for the Lord’s mercy. I pour out my complaints before Him and tell Him all my troubles. Then I pray to you, O Lord. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life. Hear my cry, or I am very low. Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me." Psalm 142: 1-2, 5-6 As I approach another onocology appointment this Thursday, my time is spent crying out to the Father. It's from Him that I find my strength. Whatever your facing this week, you can go to Him and rest easy in the comfort of His arms. Clinging on for Dear Life
Photo Credit Every Friday at the Gypsy Mama's website we write for five minutes flat about a certain word, no editing, no back tracking, just write what ever comes to mind. The word for today is....Grit...When we look at the past chapters of our lives we run across times that we can not believe we have gone through or would ever want to go through in life again. Those times when we feel as if we were over the edge of the steepest cliff hanging on for dear life by the end of a rope, not with our hands but with our teeth, clinging on for dear life. Our hands are full with stuff....our own stuff.... that we are to stubborn to let go off. It's in those times when the hardness of life creates little sand pebbles that wear away at the very core of our soul, creating discomfort and ... read more
Careful! Don’t Let it Slip Away!
Time is such a precious commodity. We have to be careful, because it's something that slips away so fast. The older I get it seems like the less time I have. Sometimes, it seems that the simplest things I have on my to do list, end up taking the longest time. I sure hope I'm not the only one that feels this way......One thing that I want to make sure of is that I use my time to the best of my ability. The years we have while our children are still at home go by way to fast. I want to take advantage of every opportunity to create memories and a strong family bond with them. I say these things, not because I'm perfect at them, but to daily remind myself of how important it is to take advantage of each moment. In every season of my life I want to make sure that my time is well spent."There is ... read more
“What are They Going to Do Arrest Us?”
Today is 5 Minute Friday at the Gypsy Mama's website. Every Friday we take 5 minutes to right about a certain word. The word for today is delight. The rain poured down ever so softy on the window as my husband and I drove to the opposite end of town. It was a chili Saturday morning, as we parked our car on the deserted road. My husband ran to the other side of the street and checked the doors of the building to see if they were locked. He ran back to the car and said, "There not locked, what are they going to do arrest us?" Away we went on our adventure.........I stopped outside the doors and pointed my camera to the sky and took a picture of something I had always wanted to see up close...... As the thick wooden doors creaked open, we slowly walked in, my heart leapt and I sighed ... read more
Contentment
The clock strikes 5:00 and it's almost time for your husband to be home. The day did not go as planned, the dishes are in the sink, crumbs mixed with peanut butter are scattered on the kitchen floor, the baby is teething and the older children have not finished their lessons plans. As far as dinner is concerned, leftovers are on the menu. We have all reached this point at one time or another in our days of mommyhood. Days when we would like to pull our hair out.....days when we feel like we are all alone...days when we feel like this will go on forever. From a seasoned mom of almost 17 years, there is good news, there is hope, you are not alone, days like these don't last forever. This is only a season, one that passes by to quickly. There is a trick, to moving through these days, ... read more
