Throughout the month of October, I’ll be sharing my ongoing journey of overcoming anxiety, and how the Lord has been working on my heart. It’s my prayer that the Lord will speak to you during this time, and draw you closer to Him, as we walk this road of life together. To follow along, and to catch up on any posts you might have missed, you can join me here at Fear or Faith, You Choose ~ A 31 Day Journey to Overcoming Anxiety.
The will of God is never exactly what you expect it to be. It may seem to be much worse, but in the end it’s going to be a lot better and a lot bigger. ~ Elizabeth Elliot
I am a Christian, therefor, I will be happy all the time.
Don’t buy into the lie.
No one is happy all the time.
You know that certain person, in your life who seems to have it all together? Guess what? I can assure you that behind closed doors they don’t. We all have fears, doubts, worries and problems that come into our lives. When all these things are added together they equal anxiety.
All of our situations are different, it may be a terminal cancer diagnosis, the loss of a job, a broken marriage, or a wayward child, that cause our hearts to race and our minds to wander.
But the good news is……there is hope.
First off, hope comes from realizing that it’s okay, and normal, to have problems that can lead to anxiety. God did not promise us a life free from difficulties.
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. ~ John 16:33
Secondly, they can be put into perspective by facing them head on, with the Master holding your hand.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10
Throughout this month, we’ll be looking at the causes of anxiety. We’ll also be looking at ways to break the chains of anxiety that Satan tries to ensnare us with, by telling us that worry, doubt, and frustration are the only way.
There are answers friends. They may not end up being what we had hoped for or expected, but we can rest assured that God does have a plan, one far better than we could have every dreamed.
Breath deep, and let in the cool refreshing air. Breath out, and feel the worries leave your soul, one after the other.
It’s gonna be okay. We start at the beginning and move forward together, towards the Father, one step at a time.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. ~ Matthew 28:11-30
