Vision Forum $50 Gift Certificate Giveaway.

How many times do you find yourself running away from a situation that you don’t like, or that is uncomfortable for you?  I myself do this very often. Once the pressure starts to weigh me down, I try to get out of the situation as fast as possible. Have you stopped to think that in doing this you may be missing out?

Just like a rose bush remains beautiful and gets the chance to grow properly, through times of pruning, we also need the same type of circumstances in our life. If the rose bush was left untrimmed it would grow out of control losing its brilliance and grandeur all because it wanted out of the painful pruning season.

When God gives us times of growth in our life we need to step back and examine the situation. We need to be open to the reasons of why we are there and what we can learn from them. Resilience, strength and faith are birthed out of the darkest of valleys.  When we run from these times, we miss out on the chance to grow and mature into the person that Jesus wants us to be.

When the storms of life hit, don’t run away. Rest easy in His presence and teach your children to do likewise. God’s word promises us that He will always be there for us. “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5  Model to them a behavior of surrendering it all to Jesus and waiting on His timing. In doing so, your children will have such an advantage and be far ahead of their years when they learn to lean on Jesus Christ.

Once a difficult season of life is over, I often count them as gifts because of the person I have become because of them. The Bible comands us to trust in Him and to teach our children to trust in Him. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths

The purpose of Leaving A Legacy is three fold. It’s mission is to challenge it’s readers to work on leaving Godly legacies for their children, to be a place of encouragement for its readers, as well as sharing my journey as a cancer survivor. You can link up your posts that deal with leaving a legacy and ones that offer encouragement to the community.

This link up will be happening every Thursday at Leaving a Legacy. Please tell your friends, and join us on this journey of leaving a Godly legacy for future generations!

  • To link up go to the sidebar and get the code for the Legacy Leaver Thursdays button, right click and “save as” on the code and then upload it into your post. Or you can provide a direct link somewhere in your post linking back here. That way other bloggers can join in too!
  • Then copy and paste the direct link from your post, (not your blog url), into the linky tool below.
  • In order to create an encouraging community here, please take a moment to visit the person in front of you. As time permits, I will read as many of your posts as possible throughout the week. Thank you!

For those of you that link up throughout the month, I will be choosing a “featured blogger”, for the following month. The featured blogger will be someone who actively participates in the link up, and who’s posts have really touched the community. They will receive free advertising for their blog on my sidebar for that month, and also be allowed to submit one approved guest post during that month.

The featured blogger for the month of September is Christina from To Show Them Jesus. Christina has a love for the Lord, and blogs about how to draw closer to Jesus in your every day walk with Him. Please stop by and be blessed by her words of wisdom.

Thank you for the link up and the inspired words today! I struggle with the run away feelings alot. It is part of my personality, but I also come by it from my parents. This is how they deal with life and emotions, by running away. Unfortunatly for my Mother it has become such a way of life, that she is no longer funtioning well. She spends most of her time Physically on the run. You never know which state she and my Father will be in at any given time. They are gone for long periods of time trying to get my mother to feel well. Between the emotional struggles and mental illness she feels the need to be gone all the time. She has a real hard time functioning in a normal capacity. When she is home she is in her bed with a pillow over her head. If she is gone, there is no pressure in life. She can hadle life on the road. It started real heavy in her thirties when perimenapause started.(I am in that same place) I am feeling the same feelings. I find myself saying the same things she would say. I find myself trying to figure out how she responded, and then doing the opposite. I do not want to be in her shoes a few years down the road. It runs in the family and I am not going to pass down the legacy of running away from my emotions. I have just written a post about my struggles with emotional eating. here is the link to that.

    http://www.lifelesshurried.com/2012/08/confessions-of-emotional-eater.html.

Emotional eating, an/or physically running away from the problems in life stops here! It is a legacy that I am not passing onto my children. I have a daughter that struggles already with this stuff and she is only 5. Helping her to learn how to identify and deal with her emotions and feelings has been one of the best things for me. I have to practice what I am telling her. We are learning together. We will create our own legacy together.

Thank you so much for sharing from your heart. I will be praying for you and your family. I am so glad God gives us the opportunity for do overs and to change our future by going down a new path. It’s such a gift to be able to create new legacies hand in hand with our children and Jesus right by our side.

      Blessings~

What a great post! And so true. Sometimes we all wish we had a lot less pruning to go through?

Yes, I do wish the times of pruning were less, but they are so worth it in the end.
