The Miller Family Motto

The Miller family on top of the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle.

Our Miller Family Motto is “Choose Joy”. This stands for putting Jesus first, Others second, and Yourself last.

“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,  patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. “
Galatians 5:22-23

Joy is one of the fruits of the spirit in the Bible. At times, joy is not an easy thing to find. So many other things can get in the way. Petty squabbles, finances, and health seem to be a few of the things that can cloud our view and become joy stealers. We loose our joy when we take our focus of the positive things in life and  start to focus on the negative. 

Our joy is also lost when our priorities are out of place. When we decide to put self first. We need to remember to put our eyes on Jesus, above all else. He is what matters most of all. When he is placed first, other things fall into line.

Find the time today to be joyful. There are always things to be thankful for……family, food, clothing, shelter, our families, jobs, the air we breath, laughter, the freshly fallen snow, the ability to love and be loved, our Savior…. the list is endless.

When we train ourselves to find joy, by putting the Lord first, and focusing on the positives in life, we are setting an example for our children. They can either see parents who are grumbling and complaining, or parents that are exemplifying a happy spirit.  Look for things to be thankful for. Train your thoughts on the following.

Philippians 4:8  “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. ”

When you do this, watch your attitude change. See the heart of your children change. Practice the art of choosing joy and see the colors of your gray world change right before your eyes.

    It seems every where I turn there is negativity. I wish people had the joy of Jesus! I choose Joy!
