Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference
~Robert Frost
We are all faced with a multitude of choices in our life. Some of these choices may seem small and insignificant, yet at times these are the ones that can change the outcome of our lives. Have you ever thought of what would have happened if you would have said no, to the first time your husband asked you on a date? What would your life be like? Would you have the kids you have today?
As we set our feet on the dusty road in the woods of life, we are faced with the decision of choosing to go on our own path, following our will and worldly desires. Or we can follow the path less traveled, one that leads us on the true path of life. This path, is a path of following Christ.
If you have not already done so I encourage you to choose the path of life. In doing so you might think that you’ll loose everything, but in reality you’ll gain everything.
Choosing Christ….makes all the difference.
Choosing Christ will not only change your life, but the lives of generations to come. It will allow those who follow you to know what the true gift of Christ really means… a life of eternity with our Lord.
Once we have made the ultimate choice we then need to make sure that we stay in the center of His will, not swaying to the right or the left. We need to get self out of the way and allow Him to guide our everyday life choices. This happens through:
1. Daily Reading His word~Psalm 119:105
2. Praying without ceasing~Romans 12:12
3. Listening for His voice~John 10:27
4. Gaining the insight of wise counsel~Proverbs 19:20-21
Sometimes it’s so hard to take the path God wants us to be on. He does not promise us a life that will be without pain or sorrow. He does promise that He will be with us every step of the way. For the sake of your relationship with Christ and for the witness you are leaving to others, choose His will. In Psalm 28:7a it states, “The Lord is my strength and my shield : my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.”
Choose to trust in Him today.
Your choices no matter how great or small…. can change the world.
