A Legacy of Service and a Link Up

One of the most valuable characteristics we can pass down to our children is a legacy of service. The way children are going to learn how to serve is by the example that we set for them. Having our hearts right with the Lord and following the instructions in God's word is the best place to start."If therefore there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests ... read more

It’s Time to Get off the Fence

"So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth."Revelations 3:16 Are you living 100% sold out for Jesus Christ? If strangers saw you in public would they know there was something different about you? If not, it's time for a change. It's time to get off the fence and give your all to Jesus. We all need to be a living example for Christ. Not someone who is stuck in sinful nature following the ways of the world. There is no excuse, if we are going to wear the name of Christian, we need to act like one. It's time to ask yourself the questions, "What example am I setting for my children? Do my words and actions match?" It's time to live a life for Him, to be a light for others as well as your children. In doing so you will teach your children to ... read more

He Has Made me Glad!

"I will enter his gates with Thanksgiving in my heart. I will enter His courts with praise! I will say this is the day that the Lord had made, I will rejoice for he has made me glad! He has made me glad! He had made me glad! I will rejoice for he had made me glad!"  ~L. Von Brethorst I love this song, it brings back memories of my youth, of days when I was in high school and youth group. Moving ahead a lifetime, it's a song that still bring joy to my heart when I worship Him. When times are hard, we need to make the choice to rejoice instead of worry, sing His praises instead of complain about hardships. Do you choose to be glad instead of unhappy? Start singing his praises and watch your life turn around. This year we are counting 1000 gifts at a Holy Experience. Please take a ... read more

Unknown Legacies in Hidden Treasures and a Link Up

This is one of my favorite pictures. The man to the far left was my Daddy. This was taken with his fellow soldiers, while they were in Germany after World War II. I love looking at the details in black and white pictures. It's as if you can look into their eyes and travel back in time to where they were, and know their every thought, and feel their joys and hardships. I wish I would have taken more time to ask my Dad about this picture when he was still alive. I would have liked to known the full story behind it. When I was spending time at my Mom's this week, I found more hidden treasures from days gone by. My Dad's dog tags, as well as a pocket watch. To me, these items are more than just things. There is a story behind them. I would have liked to known who held that watch in his hands. ... read more

Please join me in welcoming July's featured blogger, Eileen. I have never met Eileen, but I consider her a dear friend. She has a way of taking words and stringing them into beautiful pieces of art that touch the soul. She makes you laugh with her wit, and draws you closer to God with her heart for the Lord. Please take a moment to visit her at her blogging home, The Scenic Route. You'll be so glad you did! It's interesting to me how the longer we live without a loved one in our life the more precious the memories become to us.  My mom passed away when I was 18 after a five-year battle with breast cancer.  Since that time, the memories I have of who she was and how she lived her life continue to shape and impact my life today.Almost a year after my mom's death, I remember how I ... read more

Enough of this World

As the Sun sets and quiets the day with it's watermelon reds, brilliant oranges and breathtaking yellows, a sigh leaves my lips and I breath deep. My thoughts race as my mind replays the snapshots of the day screen by screen. My heart yearns for something more, something this world can't satisfy. Sometimes I've had enough of this world... Enough of the doctor's appointments, Enough of the what ifs, Enough of the have to do this or that, Enough of the noise, Enough of the hurry, Enough of the I should of done it differently, Enough of the selfishness, The things of this world will never fulfill what my soul desires... JESUS. He's more than enough to meet my every need. He's the one that takes away the sting of defeat the world leaves. As I'm reminded of His goodness and grace, I ... read more

Photo Credit The pout started to form across her quivering lips and tears began to swell in her eyes as she cried out "I want a do over! This ride just wasn't long enough! It's not fair!" The blue eyed, blond haired, little girl wanted her own way, and she wanted it NOW.Fast forward almost forty years, the now grown woman paces back and forth on the carpeted floors of her living room floor. The hour is late, the clock strikes midnight, and the sound of the grandfather clock reverberates across the house where most have gone to sleep. To continue with the rest of the story please join me at Denis in Bloom, where I have the privilege of guest posting at her wonderful blog today. Now it's time for a link up party ! The purpose of Leaving A Legacy is three fold. It's mission is to ... read more

I'm so excited to announce to you that I will now have two homes in the blogging world, Woman to Woman Ministries, and  Leaving A Legacy. Woman to Woman has graciously asked me to join their ministry, and I have accepted, with a joyous yes!  I will be a co-leader, walking along side three other wonderful women, Jenifer, Debi and Mandy.A few years  ago, I promised the Lord that anytime He asked me to speak about His goodness I would. He also gave me one of my life verses at that time which is, Acts 4:19, " Go home to your people and report to them what great and wonderful things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you."It's because of this promise and verse that I choose to say yes, to this amazing ministry. The purpose of Woman to Woman ministries is to encourage women in ... read more
