A Mom’s Faithfulness

Welcome! Thank you so much for joining us for our “Legacies” series!
Please take a moment to head over to the Encouraging Home for our GIVEAWAY!

I want to welcome Tracy from My Daily Walk in His Grace. Tracy offers hope and  encouragement in Jesus in her writings. Please stop by and visit her. I know you will enjoy her blog as much as I do!

Shari, from Leaving a Legacy has given me this lovely opportunity to guest post for her.  I am thrilled (insert smiling woman here).  Shari asked me, ” What type of legacy has been left to me?”

I never really thought about it before but this is the first thing that came to mind: My Mom had me “Christened” as was the thing to do in her day, and she dropped me off at Sunday school from the time when I was 7 or 8 years old. She wasn’t even (and still isn’t) a Christian!

Now that is God!  My Mom only goes to church for births, deaths and weddings!  My Dad was also not a believer either.  In fact, he did not want to know anything about church or God.

But…. because my Mom dropped me off at Sunday School every Sunday (and keep in mind she worked full-time so this was a sacrifice for her), I became a Christian as a young teen.  This changed my life.  My brother followed suit and he too is a Christian today.

When I met my husband we were both a little lukewarm in the Christian department at the time.  We chose to go back to church, rededicated our lives to Christ, got engaged, married young (I was 19 and he was 24) and now 24 years later, we still serve the Lord.  Our two daughters serve the Lord (for which I am truly grateful), and they date guys who serve the Lord, for which I too am truly grateful!

A mother’s gift? Love of the Lord.

All because my Mom, a non-believer, dropped me off at Sunday School every Sunday.  Yes, she was used of God!  Yes, she was part of His plan for me.  So I feel, because of her sacrifice and faithfulness to deliver me to church every Sunday (and Friday and Saturday – thanks Mom), I believe the legacy left to me or given to me, is the best one, the only one!  I have eternal life, through Christ Jesus because of my Mom’s faithfulness.

In honour of her I will continue to pray for her salvation so that she too will experience the love and grace of the Lord.

Exod 20 v 12:  Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

My encouragement to you is never think the things you do for your children go unnoticed or unrewarded.  My Mom’s efforts got me saved and she does not even understand that.  As Christian moms your efforts have great spiritual value and in time you will see that.

Please leave a comment here or back on my blog.  I love hearing from you.

God bless,

Tracy

Bio:  Well, I’m an ordinary girl, a wife for 24 yrs, a mom to 2 gorgeous daughters, 17 and 19 yrs old, a relative to a few and  most importantly, a child of God.  I work for my husband, and generally mom’s taxi for the balance of the time.  I live in Cape Town, South Africa and as my children are getting older I’m looking for ways to become more involved in my surrounding communities.  I am amazed and blessed by all the friends I am making in the bloggy world.  I am encouraged daily by the lovely ladies whose blogs I read and my heart’s desire is that I encourage you too.

Hi Jenifer – thank you. It was in writing this post that it dawned on me that God uses anyone, anything, to save His children and in my being saved, I will pry for my mom, and she in turn will be saved. I say that in faith.
      God bless

Hi Tracy- how encouraging to hear your mother shaped a legacy without her own beliefs getting in the way! Beautifully told and I am sure it was exactly as God had intended for you, through her!

How wonderful to know that even those who don’t yet acknowledge the Lord are used of Him and for Him! Totally amazing! I believe very strongly that you and your family are also being used by God in your mom’s life – though she may never want to own up to it. Dear heavenly Father, please reveal yourself to Tracy’s mom in your most wonderful way and may your love bring her to repentance and open her eyes to YOU, awesome Savior and Friend. Amen Blessings to you and yours!

There is no greater legacy than the legacy of faith. We went to church every Sunday – even though they see their relationship with God differently, they gave me the opportunity to meet Him – and that is the most important meeting in my life! I’ll be praying for your mom, too – that she have that very important meeting!

Tracy, I love this. I sometimes say, Save a man, save a man. Save a mom, save a household. A mom can have such a huge impact on her family. It’s truly amazing!
