Over the Christmas holidays, I learned a new lesson in being still and listening to His voice. A dear family member had become sick and we had to wait until after Christmas, to find out test results for what could be a serious situation.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 ~ pray without ceasing;
This is indeed what I did…..prayed without ceasing. Then, I tried to be quite and listen to His voice. One afternoon, as I looked out our basement window I saw the sun majestically reflecting on the beautiful Christmas cactus that rested on the ledge. That’s when I heard it. His voice. “Everything will be just fine”. I thought, “now is this me, or is this really you Lord”? Then I heard it again, as clear as day. “Everything will be just fine”. Times like this is when the Lord wants us to trust Him, and not lean towards the familiar friend called, worrying.
Proverbs 3:5-6~
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight
Throughout the long wait I had to trust in His answer. Trust the family member would hold fast to the answer I had received. Test results day came and the answer was indeed what the Lord had said. Everything was just fine. Trusting in the Lord, saved the holiday season, saved our spirits, and brought us closer to our Savior.
Deuteronomy 30:20a
and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.
When trials arise, pray without ceasing, and diligently read God’s word. Then take time to wait for the answers…seek them with your heart and mind. He will never leave us or nor forsake us. He has a plan in all things, just take the time to listen for His voice.
