Happy Birthday!! I am so excited to announce that today Leaving A Legacy is one year old! This blog was re-launched exactly one year ago today after taking a one year hiatus. It was reborn for the purpose of encouraging you to leave Godly legacies for your children, to offer you hope and encouragement in Jesus, as well as sharing my journey as a cancer survivor. I have been so encouraged by each and everyone of you that have joined me on this journey. Your support has meant so much to me. I look forward to the future and the great things that God has in store here at Leaving A Legacy. Because you truly blessed me this past year, I wanted to do something to bless you as well. We will be having a giveaway this week for the gorgeous mirror below. This beautiful mirror from Dayspring says, ... read more
It’s All About Jesus
Sometimes the noise inside my soul reverberates like a clanging gong. The voices of expectations of people pulling me this way and that, doctors appointments to go to, and family members to care for, can sometimes seem overwhelming. However, as I have taken time to be quiet these past few weeks the Lord has been teaching me something, I don't have to listen to, or become overwhelmed by whatever crosses my path. The only thing that I need to be focusing on is Jesus. "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20 You see, I don't need to take on the burden of walking this road alone, none of us do. When we accepted Christ as our Lord ... read more
Happy Birthday Jesus! and a Link Up
Our favorite Christmas tradition happens for our family on Christmas Eve. Every year we dim the lights and sit by the twinkling Christmas tree with it's beautiful glow as my husband reads the Christmas story.... "1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, ... read more

A Legacy of Christmas Traditions and a Link Up
To enter our Christmas Blessing Giveaway for $320 in PayPal cash click here! To enter our Mini iPad Christmas Giveaway click here! Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the brightly lit trees, the pretty decorations, Christmas baking and the snow falling on the ground. The two most important things that I love about Christmas are spending time with family and celebrating the birth of our Savior. Throughout this Christmas season, I will be sharing Christmas traditions that are important to our family, which I hope get passed down from generation to generation. ~Advent~ One tradition that our family takes part in every year is the celebration of Advent. The word advent refers to the celebration of the coming of Jesus Christ. Advent is celebrated for four ... read more
A Legacy of a Mother’s Time and a Link Up
There are only so many days we are given, so many hours to use, so many minutes to further God's Kingdom. Before you know it the tomorrows turn into yesterdays, yesterdays turn into last years, and then the time is gone. How are you using the precious gift of time that the Lord has entrusted you with?As my children begin to reach closer to adulthood the phrases of, "Am I doing enough?" and "Make each moment count", constantly run through my mind. As I was seeking the Lord in prayer this week, He was asking me to give up things in my life that were time wasters, time that I could be using with my children instead. My replies always went something to the effect of, "Are you sure God? It really doesn't matter does it? Please give me a sign that this is what you really want me to do."Guess ... read more
A Legacy of a Bountiful Harvest and a Link Up
Do you ever have times in your life when the voices of doubt and discouragement tap you on the shoulder just a little harder, trying desperately to get you to listen to them? They whisper words of, "See I told you so!", or "This just isn't your day is it?", or "Come on tell them what you're really thinking.....you know they have it coming to them. They deserve it!". These voices seem to come whenever their heart desires, trying to catch you off guard just waiting to see what you will do . Will you follow the Lord's way or cave and give into the flesh and follow your own way? Sometimes it's such a hard decision to make, especially with the current state of the world. It is so easy to react to all that's going on. Without even thinking, it only takes a split second to let the words come ... read more
The Why Behind Leaving A Legacy
I wanted to take a moment to share with you the "why" behind Leaving A Legacy for those of you who are new here, or for those of you who may not of heard this story before..... On September 3, 2003, I heard the words that no woman ever wants to hear, "You have breast cancer." Those words are enough to make your heart drop to the pit of your stomach and cause your breathing to stop. It's a life altering moment, a door that you walk through that you can never turn around and walk out of again. God has always been with me on this journey, through all my treatments and surgeries, always holding my hand, always giving me strength to make it through another day. In 2007, I felt God call me to speak about my story and then a year later to write about it through blogging. I felt the Lord speak ... read more

God gives some bigger ministries and responsibility and He gives some smaller ministries and areas of responsibility. The size does not make one more important than the other. Are you a small? There are two types of smalls. One where God created you to be that way, and another where the father of lies tries to knock on the door of your soul and tell you that you don't matter. It can be very easy to confuse the two. Being a small is not a bad thing if that's what God created you to be. Being a small is a bad thing if it's because satan is trying to wear away at your heart and cause self doubt. When satan tries to jump into the picture, and make his ... read more
A Legacy of Loving Jesus and a Link Up
To enter The Ultimate Kitchen Aid Mixer Giveaway, please click HERE. Years from now when my grandchildren look at the black and white pictures of their grandmother, the main thing I want them to say about me is, "Above all else, she loved Jesus." A legacy of loving Jesus, is what I want my legacy to be. There is nothing else that matters more than having a personal relationship with our Savior. A relationship with God that is so intertwined with every ounce of my being that I can't survive without it. Do you have that kind of relationship with the Savior? I will admit that my relationship isn't always this way. So many times my foolish pride gets in the way, and I'm blindsided by self and fail. However my heart holds true to the promises found in Philippians 3:14, "I press on ... read more
