Many of us, myself included, can go through life feeling as if we are bogged down by the storms that surround us. We hold on so tightly to the anguish of yesterday that we are unable to grasp today.
Our tomorrows will pass by in a blur because our eyes are fixed on one thing…..the painful hurts that have scorched our souls….that send ripping surges of pain…right to our very core.
Yesterday at church, our Pastor spoke on how God wants us to move past our heartache and achieve freedom in Christ. In Isaiah 43:14-19 the Lord’s word states,
“The Lord says, ‘Forget about what has happened before. Do not think about the past. Instead, look at the new thing I am going to do.'”
In reading this, I am reminded that we need to daily refocus our minds and let go of the past, while focusing on God. We need to remember that there is something bigger out there then us, bigger then our pain. That something is …….God.
In his sermon, Pastor Vaughn stated that our problem happens when we disconnect with God. He assured us that God wants to give us power when we are worn out. He wants us to stop living in our own efforts. Isaiah 40:28-29 states,
“God never grows faint or weary…..He gives power to those who are tired and worn out.”
If you have gone astray, reach out to Him and accept His forgiveness. Receive His strength and move forward in His power. Shed the grief and sorrow. There is no need to live in bondage anymore
In your quest to leave a legacy for your children, teach them how to break the chains of being broken hearted. Teach them now, while they’re young, to let go of the past, and move forward in freedom through our risen King. It is so hard to break the patterns of negativity when our children reach adulthood. Don’t let the habits of pessimism start. Instead give them the key to freedom and guide them on the path of living free in Christ.
In choosing to leave the past behind and move forward in freedom in Christ, I continue to count my blessings at A Holy Experience.

Great encouragement to teach our children how to break those chains that bind us!
Love your list!
Oh Shari, I feel like this post is meant for me. Although I am doing my best to let go of the past, sometimes I still find it inevitable to attribute my present to what have been. I guess this is just another reminder for me to refocus – on my present. And refocus on God’s plan for me.
Thank you so much for reminding me about this again! Your post blessed me so much today, Shari. 🙂
Belated Happy Easter and God bless! 🙂
Irene~ I am so glad. Have a wonderful day!
