Leaving A Legacy’s Mother’s Day Giveaway!

God’s has been speaking to me lately…….about everything I have been learning, and…um….(head bowed in shame….re-learning). Sometimes I think He must get so upset with me when I sigh and think, “Didn’t I just learn that?”  I am so thankful that He is understanding. As long as my heart and mind are in the right place He is patient as I learn and grow.

Looking at the old school house in the picture above it makes me wonder what lessons were learned in it’s classrooms. Life is like a classroom, one in which we will never graduate from. The problem that I often have in class, is making sure I remember things. It seems as if God teaches me a life lesson, where I am amazed at what I learn, and how much closer I grow to Him. Until……a few weeks down the road, I learn the same thing again, in a different way. Often times the second round of learning is not as easy as the first.  I have been looking to the Lord for help in trying to set a plan into motion that will help me remember life lessons a little easier. The following things are areas that God has placed on my heart that I need to be consistent in so that my learning might increase. In doing these things in succession, it’s my prayer that my all will be focused on Him, no matter what trials I may be facing, and that I could move forward onto new lessons that need mastering.

1. Focus
The main thing that my mind and heart needs to be focused on at all times is Jesus. Nothing else but Him should be at the forefront of my mind. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33

2. Prayer
The next thing is that of prayer. The Bible tells us to, “Never stop praying.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17.  No matter where I am at in life, I need to be in constant communion with Him, opening my heart to Him, asking Him for help to grow and mature into the woman of God that He wants me to be. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, B)’> me.” Psalm 139:1. With the Lord’s help I need to constantly search my heart to make sure that nothing is getting in the way of my relationship with Him. Problems, difficulties, selfishness, and pride all need to go to the wayside so that He would be glorified.

4. The Word
I need start my day reading the Word. Taking in bits and pieces here and there is not enough. Our earthly bodies do not survive well when they are not nourished well. Likewise our spiritual bodies do not survive well if they get improper nourishment. I need to be IN the word. Being in the word is where true wisdom and knowledge is gained. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105

5. Journal
Another way to remember the lessons I have been learning, is to journal. When I keep a journal of my prayers, and words that God has spoken to me, I remember. I have a visual aid to look back on an recall His goodness.

6. Accountability
Having someone to be accountable to on my spiritual walk is more valuable that gold. Whether it’s one person or a group of people, I need someone to keep me on track. I have found accountability in an online group that I am a part of through Women to Women Ministries.

7. Repeat
This is often the hardest step for me. I need to remember that in the classroom of life these things need to be done EVERYDAY. If they are not done everyday I tend to forget, I forget His goodness and promises, and start to lean back on my imperfect self.

As I move forward with hope in Him, following the steps that He has laid out for me, it’s my prayer that some of you may glean from these words as well. Don’t waste a moment being stagnant. None of us know the amount of days we have left on this earth. Spend your days diligently learning and growing. Give your all to Him, nothing else should matter, learn new things everyday while moving forward on this journey of life that He has so graciously given us.

I love that your lessons in with the task of repeat! I often need to go through several cycles of lessons or steps before I truly get it.

Hi Shari, we are all students! I have been journaling ever since I was very young, but about 6 or so years ago I realized I did not remember what I prayed about and what I meditated on, so I decided to draw the bible verses! This worked for me! Now I can picture it in my mind! :^) patsy

    Learn, re-learn, rinse, repeat. . .
I am so glad God is so gracious and patient with me!

Journaling is such an under-utilized tool, I think. Not only is it great for prayers, but also for intentionally listing all for which you are grateful, for just dumping the clutter in your head, and for generating ideas.
