We all look at things differently. Our legacies, everyday life stories, and beliefs about the world cause us to look at things from different perspectives. The problem with perspectives is sometimes they can be skewed. We can get a distorted vision of what’s in front of us when the fog of who we are, and what we have been through gets in the way.
This is an area that God, and my husband have been working with me on. God has been revealing to me that the way I see things and believe in things, is not the only correct perspective of a situation. I’m constantly being reminded to put on the glasses that God has provided for me so that things can be revealed in a new light. When I do this I am reminded that there are two sides to every story. This view, God’s view, a view that’s made possible through faith and not sight, stops my sensitive feelings from overflowing, turns the hurts away, and creates peace deep within.
“We live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

So true; ” … who we are, and what we have been through gets in the way…”!
The glasses that GOd provide … 🙂 I need to put them on more, keep them less in my pocket!
What a great post, Shari! I once preached a sermon called ‘Looking Through Crimson Colored Glasses’ that talke about this very thing.
If we could only see things God’s way…
God bless,
Debi
This is so good today! I only wish I had learned it early on in life. I remember once hearing a wise woman say that we should take every situation and let it’s light shine through the Diamond of God’s grace in order to see ALL the rainbow of colors hidden in that situation. I still have a hard time with that, and am still working on it. Thank you for the reminder that MY opinion and MY view is not the only one out there that counts!
Sensitive feelings and hurt… yeah there’s a lot of that around here. I could use this perspective! 🙂
Thanks for visiting!
Beautiful Shari- seeing through the lens of God versus our own skewed lens… what a great metaphor to put into use everyday. I sometimes need to be reminded of those lessons over and over again. Thanks for such a great reminder!
I was so excited to receive your book in the mail!! I am in the middle of one and as soon as I finish that one I am thrilled to start this one!! Thank you for graciously sending me this book!!
Hi Shari! Oh this is so very true. I have truly had to change my thinking on this matter. To renew my mind too, to see things from God’s perspective and not just to trust in my own life experiences. What a beautiful post!
Blessings!
This is so true! I often have to remind myself of the perspective of eternity. God knows the end from the beginning and how my trials fit in and the way they will change me. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful blog. Very true about God’s perspective. Often, I pray…”Let me see them through your eyes.”
