A Legacy of Living Life on the Playground and a Link Up

Joy

“Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!” Psalms 47:1

I once read a story about a family who had very little. The mother was busy making a meal out of the only food they had, potatoes. As she was peeling the potatoes to put in the pot, she heard the laughter of her children outside on the neighboring playground begging her to come and play.

She knew at that moment  she had a choice….a choice to dwell in her sorrows or a choice to go out and play with her children. She made a choice…..she choose joy. She choose to not dwell on the negatives in her life and instead focus on what was good.

“Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties. “~Helen Keller

Years later her children were asked what kind of home they had growing up. Their response….a life filled with laughter and happiness. They never knew how poor they truly were, or the troubles that they had, because their parents never focused on that.

What will you choose? A life always focused on the negative, or a life that’s lived on the playground, having fun and living life to its fullest? Enjoy your life and teach your children to do the same. God did not design our lives to be lived in sorrow and doubt. He designed them to be lived in the light of His love, focusing on the joy that it brings. If you grant your children the legacy of joy you will be giving them a gift that no amount of riches can ever buy. What’s your choice friends?

“It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy,
that makes happiness.” ~Charles Spurgeon

~Now it’s time for a link up party !~

The purpose of Leaving A Legacy is three fold. It’s mission is to challenge it’s readers to work on leaving Godly legacies for their children, to be a place of encouragement for its readers, as well as sharing my journey as a cancer survivor. You can link up your posts that deal with leaving a legacy and ones that offer encouragement to the community.

This link up will be happening every Thursday at Leaving a Legacy. Please tell your friends, and join us on this journey of leaving a Godly legacy for future generations!

  • To link up go to the sidebar and get the code for the Legacy Leaver Thursdays button, right click and “save as” on the code and then upload it into your post. Or you can provide a direct link somewhere in your post linking back here. That way other bloggers can join in too!
  • Then copy and paste the direct link from your post, (not your blog url), into the linky tool below.
  • In order to create an encouraging community here, please take a moment to visit the person in front of you. As time permits, I will read as many of your posts as possible throughout the week. Thank you!

For those of you that link up throughout the month, I will be choosing a “featured blogger”, for the following month. The featured blogger will be someone who actively participates in the link up, and who’s posts have really touched the community. They will receive free advertising for their blog on my sidebar for that month, and also be allowed to submit one approved guest post during that month.

October’s featured blogger of the month is my dear friend Jenifer from Sweet Blessings. Please take a moment to stop by her blog and receive hope and encouragment in Jesus!

Many Blessings~

Hi Shari – another reminder for me this week to choose my attitude, choose joy over sadness, and choose God over anything else because anything else, does NOT measure up. Great reminder!
God bless and praying for you specifically 🙂

Thank you for this. It is something I deal with all of the time. We are faced with a choice every single day. Often, sadly, I choose the wrong way. But I am learning to choose joy and time with my kids.

Spending time with our kids is so important. I am not perfect at it either. I’m thankful that each day is a new beginning and a chance at a fresh start.

      Blessings~
