There are only so many days we are given, so many hours to use, so many minutes to further God’s Kingdom. Before you know it the tomorrows turn into yesterdays, yesterdays turn into last years, and then the time is gone. How are you using the precious gift of time that the Lord has entrusted you with?
As my children begin to reach closer to adulthood the phrases of, “Am I doing enough?” and “Make each moment count”, constantly run through my mind. As I was seeking the Lord in prayer this week, He was asking me to give up things in my life that were time wasters, time that I could be using with my children instead. My replies always went something to the effect of, “Are you sure God? It really doesn’t matter does it? Please give me a sign that this is what you really want me to do.”
Guess what? I got my sign…….the very next day the Lord gave me these words…
The calling of motherhood, is one of the highest callings a woman can have. It’s something to be taken very seriously, a position that was given by God. We will be accountable to Him for how our time is spent, for how much time we have devoted to our families. When we neglect our duties, we are neglecting our relationship with God as well.
The things that have taken up time and space in our lives need to go if they stop us from getting closer to God and our families. A legacy of a mother’s time is one of the most important legacies we can leave our children.
If I could turn back the pages of time, you would find me spending more of my time on the floor with my young babies….playing with dolls, building the lego cities, having tea parties and coloring pictures of Winnie the Pooh.
Are their things in your life that need to go? What if you cut your time in half that was spent watching television or being on the computer? What kind of difference could you make?Don’t waste another moment dear sisters, the time is now to be a mama, the time is now to teach them while their young.
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he
will not turn from it.” ~ Proverbs 22:6
~Now it’s time to link up !~
* This link up will be happening every Thursday at Leaving a Legacy. You can link up your posts that deal with leaving a legacy to your children and other loved ones. These posts can vary from spiritual lessons, to homeschooling tips, to recipes and homemaking skills that you want to pass down. You can also link up posts that offer encouragement to the community. I will do the best I can to read as many posts as possible throughout the week. However, if there are times that I miss you, know that I’m so grateful that you linked up and was so blessed to have you here!
- To link up go to the sidebar and get the code for the Legacy Leaver Thursdays button, right click and “save as” on the code and then upload it into your post. Or you can provide a direct link somewhere in your post linking back here. That way other bloggers can join in too!
-
Then copy and paste the direct link from your post, (not your blog url), into the linky tool below.
-
In order to create an encouraging community here, please take a moment to visit the person in front of you. As time permits, I will read as many of your posts as possible throughout the week. Thank you!
For those of you that link up throughout the month, I will be choosing a “featured blogger”, for the following month. The featured blogger will be someone who actively participates in the link up, and who’s posts have really touched the community. They will receive free advertising for their blog on my sidebar for that month, and also be allowed to submit one approved guest post during that month.
The featured blogger for the month of November is my good friend Tracy from My Daily Walk in His Grace. Please take a moment to stop by and read her encouraging words!

Shari,
One of the greatest gifts homeschooling gives us is the gift of TIME. I wrote about it in an article called “Why We Homeschool” on the Mardel homeschooling site. I’m thankful for the time I had with my daughters (now 20 and 23), “never enough, but so much more than my friends who chose another educational option.” I loved the hours of reading together on the couch, acting out the battle of Jericho with Lego walls and counting bears, and morning devotions. RICH RICH RICH. We gave up some stuff along the way, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Blessings from Be Not Weary today

Shari, this was a GREAT post. I loved it! It’s so easy to get distracted with things, and let the time slip away when our kids are young. I would like it if you would share this post on my blog: http://courtshipconnection.com/?p=2342
I think it’s worth sharing!
